Backflow Preventer: Protection During Colder Temperatures

cartoon character who is cold

backflow on side of houseHard to believe, but it’s nearly that time of year again! With the weather forecast calling for much lower temperatures coming up, just remember to cover your backflow preventer (PVB) if we haven’t winterized your system yet.

This is pretty easily done by just wrapping an old towel or blanket around it and then covering with a trash bag or trash can. You are simply trying to insulate it from the cold temps. Remember, this is only necessary if we haven’t performed the sprinkler winterization on your system.

The backflow preventer is typically located near the side of the home like the one shown in the photo here. Please let us know if you have any questions or if you still need to schedule your full system winterization. See the blog post below for more information on winterization.
